So DD's pedi recommends 2% milk, but DD's daycare gives the 2 year old children skim. From what I've been reading, the AAP says either is fine. Would you make it a point to request 2% or just let LO drink skim during the day? FWIW DD is definitely not a peanut, but do toddlers still need the fats for brain development?
Re: Milk?
We give our 2yo skim. I try to make sure he's getting enough fats in the rest of his diet tho. I'll put a little extra butter on his steamed veggies or mashed potatoes, which doubles as making them extra yummy so he eats all of them.
I don't think it's as big of a deal as some make it out to be. If your child is underweight, then bump up the fats. If they are overweight, cut some out. Another thing to consider... will your daughter not drink milk if it's not a certain kind? For me, I'd rather have my kids drinking any kind of milk than none at all, but our LO is the least picky 2yo I've ever met
