We have one each of DD and SBD that I got within the last 4-6 months. DH is a SAHD, and he says he doesn't use them b/c he doesn't like them (I wasn't really sure why not), so they haven't gotten used too much. I try to use them on the weekends.
But every.single.time he is in the DD or SBD it leaks onto his pant legs (or is it wicking). Or this weekend I put him in each diaper without pants on, and the pee wicks out from the inside onto the outer, print on the outside. So his entire crotch area on the outside of the diaper was super wet.
We are extremely frustrated. And DH continuously says that sposies work better b/c we've never had a pee leak from them......which is true. And we have leaks/wicking from CD's all the time.
Has anyone else had leaking and wicking from their DD or SBD?
Re: DD and SBD leaking/wicking
Are you sure your CD's are on tight enough? Maybe that is the issue? Anyway, i do not own any DD's, but I have 2 SBDs (AI2s). One is the older style that had velour on the inside and the other is new and has fleece on the inside. The velour one leaks far more than the fleece one. DS wore his fleece one this weekend, and of course, fell asleep in it. He ended up wearing it for over 3 hours, and he leaked all over. But he was in it for far too long. I find that AI2's work best if DS only wears them for 1.5 hours.
What other diapers is your DS leaking from? If he is leaking from everything, it's probably a fit issue. Have you tried fitteds? I love them much more as DS can wear them much longer than AI2's.
All of our diapers don't leak, but I guess sometimes it just feels like it. We've had leaks from BG 3.0 - which we're probably going to sell b/c they leave red marks (almost scabs) on DS's thighs (and he doesn't have ginormous thighs). The 4.0's work better.
I keep wondering if it is a fit issue or user error when I put it on, but I make absolutely sure that I've put the DD's and the SBD's tight enough around his thigh.
We have the newer version SBD.
I guess I expect my diapers to last at a bare minimum 2 hours, if not 3.
We get leaks from our BSB (bright star baby) as well, as we got one yesterday, and I know I put that one on tight enough. He was only in that one for 1 hour 45 minutes.
It's just frustrating for DH when he see's CD's leaking around the 1.5 hour mark, but DS could go all day in a sposie (if we let him - not that we would!) without a leak.
I will try a hemp doubler in the DD and SBD AI2 next time. But I also am of the mindset that we all paid a decent amount of $$ for these diapers, and I expect them to work as-is. I mean, why would I pay $30+ for something that leaks/wicks if you put them on as-is.

We do have some fitteds, and I love them. We don't use them when going out since they're more bulky and don't fit under his pants/shorts. But I try to put him in fitteds with no cover as much as possible on the weekends.

The area around where he pees is generally pretty wet (at the top front of the diaper). The rest of the soaker is completely dry.
We put our diapers in the dryer every time.
I love the fit of the DD, and how much I can stretch the tabs over, and even over on top of each other. It seems like it would fit DS until he's 4+, at the rate we're going on the snaps - and he's 75% weight and 95+% for height. So it makes me sad when it wicks onto the outside fabric.
