XP: Eye contact

Someone on another board suggested I try posting this here for some help.

 

What is considered poor eye contact?  DD is almost 14 months, and she's never been great at making it.  She will look you in the eyes when you ask her or from far away, but it's only for a split second.  She very rarely makes eye contact when you are holding her.  She also looks down a lot.  I asked the doctor about my concerns, but he didn't seem worried.  Are there delays that could cause a lack of eye contact?

My first thought is to get her an eye exam. An inability to focus would make her look at the source of the sound, then look away because she can't really make out what it was.

I would investigate that first.
