So I posed about some really weird cramps I was having, and now I feel I have more of a grasp of what's going on. I do have a doc's appointment today, but I'm honestly not sure they're going to have much to tell me! So I wanted to respost this from another thread, in case anyone's experienced the same thing:
I'm guessing I'm just having bizarro RLP pain. Essentially, during the day, it feels more like a clear "stich in the right side" that is manageable, but sometimes painful that sort of gets worse as day goes on/progresses to abdomen. Like watching TV with my husband is just very annoying because I'm CONSTANTLY shifting positions. But it's at NIGHTTIME that it's horrible, like a totally different pain! Essentially, I can't lay on my side or even a little bit back. Have to try to sit up straight and fall asleep like that. Took some tylenol and got some decent sleep thanks to that, but without it, it's impossible to sleep well, if at all. And the pain at night due to these positions (or whatever) turns more into like BAD menstrual cramps with sharp pains, coming and going constantly! Like definitely would scare any pregnant mom, haha. But then during the day when I'm sitting totally up straight or walking, it's more manageable and more like a constant soreness with just the random bad cramp.
Anyways, I'm getting checked out today and will let you ladies know how it goes. I'm guessing it's just a weird pulled muscle or RLP that just gets real aggravated in certain positions. But if anyone of you have experienced this, let me know - just not sure the docs even know what to think! : )
Re: RLP pain update - kind of
Thanks for tips, guys. Turns out I was one of those very unusual cases where it was actually contractions. https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/59520623.aspx Bizarro, who'd a thunk. Now I know what a contraction feels like, haha.
Don't the rest of you worry, though, this is not common! If anyone curious about the same issue reads this, though, I'd say the reason I was confused about what was going on is in addition to sort of a constant dull cramp and discomfort, I was having sharp cramps that came and went. I just didn't realize how frequent and regular they were.
So I'd suggest that if you're confused, time your cramps and their intensity. That will help you determine what you're feeling. Apparently if my contractions come back and number more than 4 an hour, that's of concern. Anything other that can actually be okay.
Thanks again!
