I have extreme rib pain on the right side of my body. The pain is under my ribs on the side/back of my body. I don't know what the cause is but it started a couple of days ago. I am going to call my OB tomorrow but is anyone else experiencing this?
Yes, Started at about 20 weeks and now 24 weeks. Pain starts around 5pm everynight and doctor told me there is nothing I could do about it and some pregnant women get it and some dont... You must have a small frame like me. But I am switching doctors in two weeks and will be asking for a refferal to a specialist, bc it hurts like crazy everynight!
I experienced that with my first baby. It was my gall bladder, and I had to have it out in emergency surgery when I was 28 weeks pregnant. It was horrible, but I felt so much better when it was out.
Many women get gall bladder problems from pregnancy, but not everyone has to have it out while pregnant. I had to have it out because the no-fat diet I was on to prevent attacks wasn't helping, and I was losing a lot of weight.
PAY ATTENTION to your pain. If you have to get it out, the second trimester is the time to do it if you can't wait until you have your baby. Things could've gotten very scary for me and my daughter if I hadn't complained.
This. I had a gallbladder scare last week. I had pain in what sounds to be the same spot under my ribs, as well as increasingly bad acid reflux symptoms after eating fatty meals. An abdominal ultrasound ruled out any issues with my gallbladder and my doctor thinks its just my acid reflux being different due to the pregnancy, but I am really glad I had it checked out.
My ribs hurt too. It's a combination between the baby getting stuck up in there and the underwire from my bra squeezing on them all day. Stretching in yoga has helped a little, but my doctor said unfortunately, smaller build women generally feel rib pain more during pregnancy.....The cure: delivery.
