I know everyone is different, but just trying to gauge what is normal, if there even is a "normal." So, when did YOU start wearing maternity clothes with your first baby?
Thanks!

I was in maternity pants at around 12-13 weeks. I guess I started wearing shirts around 19 weeks, but I still have a few long shirts that I can wear, but they are starting to get a little short.

I have worn them 3-4 times, starting at 15 weeks. They were a little too big to be comfortable, so I was sticking to the Bella Band. I think this week I am going to go full on maternity pants to work. I am 17 weeks.

With my first baby I started wearing them around 13 weeks. This time around I used the belly band from target and I just had to break out the actual maternity pants last week (19weeks).
I stopped wearing my cute tight jeans around 10 weeks and have been living in my pre-preggo bigger pants, jeans, and dresses. I did buy a pair of maternity jeans that I also wear a lot, just because they are so comfortable!
I never wore them with the first 2 and am not in them yet this time. I guessing Ill just wear my regular clothes the whole time again. They were/are just more comfortable.
The moment a child is born,
the mother is also born.
She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new.
With my first (this is my 2nd) I didn't buy maternity clothes until I was about 24 weeks - I could still fit into my regular pants and shirts but not very comfortably. With this one I've been wearing maternity since about 18 weeks - before that I just used the Belly Band and wore clothes that weren't jeans.
Strangers probably didn't comment on my belly or realize I was pregnant until I was about 28 weeks or so? And I'm almost 24 weeks now and the last 2 weeks are when strangers will comment if I am wearing a shirt that accentuates my bump. I saw an old high school friend today and she was shocked I was as far along as I am since it's my second, so I guess that means I'm small? I have no torso whatsoever so this baby has little room except out so I was surprised.

I started wearing maternity pants around 18 weeks. I think I can go a few more weeks with my regular shirts, but many of them are too short to cover the panel, so my pickin's are slim.
14 weeks. I could still fit into my regular jeans it was just the button would push against my lower hardening belly and it would feel uncomfortable. (I found really comfy maternity jeans) Plus my Boobs got way to big for my regular shirts as well. So I am just wearing small maternity clothes right now (the tight shirt ones with the scrunchy sides) makes me look like I have a nice pregnant belly anyways.
With DD I wore both normal and maternity. Just depends on who I was feelling. This time I started at like 10 weeks because I started to show really early and am the same size now that I was when I gave birth to DD. They said I would get bigger this time around just didn't think I would get super huge.

I started wearing maternity pants and jeans at about 13-14 weeks . . . maternity tops around 19-20 weeks. I was pretty slender pre-pregnancy, so there was nowhere for this LO to go but out and that is what he/she is doing!
I have to say I'm impressed with how long everyone lasted before maternity clothes! I was definitely in maternity jeans by 8 weeks because I hated the bella band for jeans (they were ok with summer shorts) and my normal jeans were not comfortable at all. I still am not wearing maternity tops though, just jeans.

I started using the Bella Band here and there at about week 15. My pants all still fit, but a couple pairs just were uncomfortable in the waist by the end of the day. I bought a pair of maternity jeans, but haven't worn them yet. I imagine I'll get some pants soon and maybe some tops. I'm 5'11, so not a lot of tops that are business casual are long enough to hide the Bella Band.
18 weeks. I was using a BeBand before that and the mat jeans are like a million times more comfortable. I wore a lot of flowy tops pre-pregnancy so I haven't needed to get any maternity shirts yet. (Someone gave me a tee though.)
Around 10 weeks my mom said to me "guess what honey, this is the only 40 weeks of your life you get to wear stretchy jeans and tops that make your stomach look bigger... enjoy it!" So I started wearing them right then! The minute your clothes feel a little uncomfortable hop into some maternity ones. There is no right time, even if you just found out, who cares you are pregnant

I'm 23wks along and I haven't worn or purchased one maternity item for myself yet. I'm plus size (18/20) and lost weight in my 1st tri and I'm still at least 12lbs under my prepregnancy weight. I can still wear all of my clothes quite comfortably, even though it's clear that I'm pregnant now and not just fat. I do have a bit of a "b belly" going, so I even though I can still button my jeans w/out issue, I roll them down in the front so that it doesn't accentuate my "b bump" further. My friends/fam have started a bet on how much longer I can keep this up though, lol!
(9 weeks with this one. I didn't really need to, but I felt silly waiting until my clothes get tight and uncomfortable when I spent money on something I can only wear for a limited amount of time.)

With DS I started using a Bella Band around 19-20 weeks and wasn't in mat pants until closer to 30. I'm almost 16 weeks with #2 and my regular clothes still fit fine.

i started wearing maternity jeans around 14 weeks because i didn't want to buy a belly band, and a hair tie looped around my button was not cutting it. the jeans are still a bit big, but that won't last. i bought some larger shirts, and one maternity shirt, but i haven't actually worn the maternity shirt yet.
i still feel like i'm in the not-pregnant-enough-to-be-asked-by-strangers-because-mostly-i-look-thick camp.

I'm 19 weeks and still in my regular clothes, just using a bella band for my work pants. I think I may have a week or two left where they will still be comfy then I will make the switch.
With my first, I was about 20 weeks, with my second, because I didn't gain as much weight, I didn't start until 26 weeks and this time, I am still in pre PG clothes.
DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
I'm 22 weeks and I'm still in my normal clothes/jeans using my belly band. But I think I'm going to have to go out and buy maternity clothes in the next 2 weeks.
Probably in maternity pants full time at about 16 weeks. Although they didn't stay up until about 19 weeks. I think if my pre-preggo jeans actually fit pre-preggo I'd been fine with them until 20 weeks or so. I was holding off on buying the next size up hoping to lose some weight when I got preggo...oh the irony.
Still holding out on the maternity shirts but wore one this weekend.
14 weeks for me...the old rubberband trick on the jeans/slacks was beginning to get a bit painful on the belly! I still have some tops I can wear here @ 18 weeks, but they are starting to get too short. And, if I had my way, I would be wearing yoga pants or drawstring sweats for the next 21 weeks! :-)
25 weeks with dd. Bella band became my best friend at about 20 weeks. I'm 18 weeks now and still not in anything maternity. Hopefully I can hold out a little longer. I hate maternity clothes! I am tall though and my belly is higher up, so pants are okay for a while.
In jeans by at about 16 weeks .... I can still technically wear my pre pregnancy jeans they are just not comfortable. I think most other pants still fit but I pretty much live in jeans. I do have to say that the maternity jeans are too big .. and as a bigger girl the whole bella band thing just doesn't work well.

I was in maternity jeans / casual wear at about 16 weeks or so. I finally bit the bullet and went fully into maternity clothes for work just a few weeks ago (probably 20-21 weeks). I still have some non-maternity shirts I can wear, but as far as pants go, not a chance.
Before that, I was wearing the heck out of my belly band.

ETA: Opps, you asked about FIRST baby - I think it was probably around 15-20ish weeks.
with my first baby not until 20 weeks or so, I didn't have much of anything until then.
This time I busted out my maternity jeans at 12 weeks (but I was to nervous to do it before that)
Around 16 weeks. It wasn't totally necessary but I had told everyone and was excited to wear them.
This time around, I am 16 weeks now and still hiding it in regular clothes.
20 weeks with my son.

With my first I didn't need maternity clothes until 25 weeks. I didn't show obviously until 32 weeks. I had an anterior placenta and carried VERY low.
This time I don't need clothes yet but I can already tell I will carry much higher. I've lost 11 pounds and have gained uterus!
