1st Trimester

trying to wait til tomorrow... TMI

I'm on pelvic rest and I have an extreme yeast infection that just popped up over night. I have pills to take but I don't know if they are safe for pregnancy and I have tried looking them up. Has anyone else had this issue? I know they are very common and get out of hand easily with pregnancy but this is ridiculous. Tomorrow, come quick.

  • To the best of my knowledge, you can't use diflucan (the pill), but you can use monistat creams from the drug store. Hope you're feeling better :(
  • According to Mayo Clinic's guide to healthy pregnancy, it says use Monistat with caution and the Clotrimazole is generally safe. Doesnt mention diflucan! If you need some relieve, maybe a warm bath with apple cider vinegar could help? I love apple cider vinegar baths, its very soothing.

  • My Dr advised against Monistat in the first tri.  She prescribed clortrimazole.

  • I've only ever had yeast infections later in pregnancy, but my doctor recommended Monistat 7, and for the more awful ones gave me a three day course of a prescription cream. HTH!!

  • I had one at 5 weeks as well.  My doc was on vacation and did not know what to do, did not really want to use any creams without asking him first - i just washed up with unscented soap and luke warm water and it went away.
