I set up one on wishpot.com so I could get everything I registered for in one place (it's like an online checklist for me right now), but I also registered in the stores for store shoppers, and to get the discounts some of the stores offer on items not purchased before the shower.
We did ours at Babys R Us. You get a "completion" coupon for any items not purchased off your registry after your due date.

I did an online registry at Amazon but that is more for me than for people to actually shop from. Kind of more like a checklist of everything in one place. We also did instore registries at BRU and Target, both of which are also available online as well. Actually, the two baby gifts we received already were ordered online from BRU and shipped to me by an out-of-state relative.

You can have items from anywhere online on it. It keeps track of it all. I was originally going with Amazon, but there was so much I wanted from other sites I needed to find another option.

Buybuybaby.com, there are also stores near me. They had a cute freebie bag with samples of baby oil, a bottle and binky etc, They have a broad spectrum of prices....not as much as a variety like babies r us, but EVERYONE goes there. I looked into a few other places as suggested by thebump, and Kohls among other places. I'm a little early on planning everything...but I'm a capricorn that's just how I am

I only made one registry - on Amazon! I always shop amazon anyways...and I like how they almost have everything...and they find the good prices for you...plus now they have the option to add things from outside stores!
Most of the things I wanted for LO I was able to find on their site, but there are a few nursery art pieces and other things I added from Etsy to my registry too it was so easy...and I haven't had any problems with it like people were having with a Target registry.
