Another outside baby in the world of the November mama's!!
I went to my 37 week appt at 10:50 on 10/19, got checked 3 times, a speculum exam, an exam from my ob and then one from the med student. I was a loose 3 almost 4 cm dilated at that point..
By the time I got back to work I was having contractions that were about 7 minutes apart but I stuck through it and went home at 3:30 my scheduled time. I was supposed to go to my friends house for our weekly girls nights, so I did the dishes and left..still contracting. At about 6:30 I had to come home because my contractions were so bad I couldn't talk through them so DH and I called L&D and they wanted me to come in just in case.
I went in, shared a room in triage and got examind THREE MORE TIMES! because my cervix was so thinned out it was apparently impossible to tell how dilated I really was, the final verdict was six! I was having that little man!
They admitted me, gave me my epidural then broke my water and within an hour I was at an 8, baby still doing fantastic..Within no time it was time to push! I started pushing at 2:15am and my contractions weren't coming consistently enough so they started me on petocin, which i'm pretty sure negated the hard work the epidural was working..because I felt EVERYTHING at that point.
Unfortunately my little guys head was tilted and after 2 1/2 hours of pushing with no real progress so my OB called it since I was exhausted my hour later my perfect little c section baby!
DH was really really disappointed because he wanted to cut the cord, but we had a healthy baby boy!
He was 6 lb 12 oz and 20 inches long, he has had a problem with low blood sugar though so my little fighter is in the NICU just until he gets them stabilized
PSA FOR GD MAMA'S: It's really common for your baby to have low blood sugar, so we'll all do what it takes!
Good luck for the rest of you! i'm gonna take some pain meds and go snuggle my munchkin!!
