1st Trimester

Just needing to "talk"...

We haven't really told told that we are pregnant yet, except to close family and I am just needing to "talk" to someone....

Today we had our first ultrasound and they are estimating froma previous 2 HCGs that we are maybe 8 weeks.  I skipped a period so it  is hard to go by that.

Anyways, today our ultrasound showed 3 gestational sacs but no fetal poles in any of them.  One was very large and the other two were very tiny.

I have been bleeding for the past 2 days (light period like), but my doctor said it doesn't neccesarily mean a miscarriage.  We did another HCG to see where the levels are.

My doctor said it could be that we are WAY earlier than we thought and my levels were just high because of the multiple sacs.  They drew another HCG and we will find out the levels tomorrow and another ultrasound next week to see if anything has "grown".

Any one ever had the same experience?  Or similar?

  • We haven't told a lot of people either because I have some medical issues and we're not sure if I can carry a baby full-term yet.

I've read that it's pretty normal for fetal poles to not be visible until about 9 weeks. And especially if you're carrying multiples, babies are usually smaller anyway.  Don't stress. I know that's impossible to do, but just start taking prenatal vitamins and stay hydrated because you're definitely going to need extra vitamins and calories right now!  Just calm your mind and remember that things are going to be okay.  God has a plan for you

  • Thank you both!  T&Ps always accepted!

  • I went about a month w/o showing anything but a gestational sac. According to my LMP I should have been several weeks ahead of where I was showing on the u/s. As of today, we have a growing baby (and a mommy whose getting 'fat')... Fingers crossed, at 15 weeks that we continue to progress.

Try not to worry too much. I know it's a challenge. My doctor felt pretty confident early on that I might m/c... At my 11 week appt. he finally said "Your out of the woods"... But we decided to wait and share the news til last weekend to be safe. Because of your missed peroid and our bodies having the ability to be really, really strange... just try to not worry. At this point, there isn't a ton that you can do but be your own personal best and stay strong.

Nevertheless, tons of T&P's headed your way :)

  • Thanks for sharing your experiences.  I guess I am just searching for a little hope...
