TTC After a Loss

Charting help, if you don't mind!

Warning child before loss mentioned................................................................................Hi all, I am miscarrying my third loss now. My Dr ordered the rpl blood test for 2 weeks once hopefully everything has passed and then he said we'll meet to go over the results and talk about some other things to look into. In the meantime I want to start charting, I have never done it before but have read TCOYF so I get the basics. my main concern (and this may be ridiculous) is that because I have a 3 year old my sleep patterns are odd. Like last night I want to bed at 11, was woken up by him at 2 because he wet his bed, was up for 30 min and then back to bed, he woke up at 6 and laid with me till 6:30. Of course we were talking at this time, got up to pee once, etc...so will charting not work for me if I can't do it when I first get woken up at 6 and if once or twice a week I may be woken up at night? My cycles have been VERY off since having my son, usually lasting 50 or so days and very short period so I just wanted to see what was going on. THANK YOU FOR ANY THOUGHTS!!!

Re: Charting help, if you don't mind!

  • I'm a really restless sleeper and I wasn't sure if charting would work for me. I found, though, that I could still catch the temp shift. I ended up temping the first time I woke up (between 2 and 3) because it was the only solid block I could get. In FF I would note the time I temped in the notes field (I just set it for 3 in the program because I didn't want all the open circles). In my BFP cycle I also temped when I woke up and ended up including that in the notes so I could have another set of data points if I needed them. If there was a night where I never got 3 solid hours I would mark it as sleep deprived.

My approach was definitely not textbook or "recommended", but it worked enough to confirm O. Good luck!

  • Thank You both! so this morning after my son woke me up at 6 I took him to the bathroom and then came back to bed and temped...it was 97.5 we then fell back asleep in my bed for 1.5 hrs, when I woke up 8 thought I would temp again just to see and it was really different 98.2 so now I wonder which temp would be "right" or if this is going to be hopeless for me since when I first wake up I almost always have to get out of bed immediately to help him in the bathroom (he is fine the rest of the day but in the morning he's half asleep and can't see well, going to get a night light to help today) Should I temp twice.....or not even bother:( so bummed because I really wanted to see what is up with my cycle:(

I don't think you can count either one of those temps.  You have to temp before getting up out of bed and moving around.   Maybe you can get a thermometer that will give you results in less than 1 minute?  Or set your alarm for a time earlier than when your DS wakes up.
