Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Sleep is the best thing ever...

I love sleep.

I wish I could sleep more.

I remember b4 DD was here I slept anytime I wanted.

Please tell me I will sleep again.

Life is so much happier when you and your child get the sleep you need.

Ahhhh sleep...my old friend...when will we meet again!?

ps i met a dad with a three year old and he said she is such a sleepy head and that she sleeps in all the time....count down till three or just count down till front teeth cut through

  • are people really surprised when they have a baby and they don't get the same amount of sleep as they did before? i don't get it. there are certain things to expect after you have a kid, and one of the things to expect is that life is going to be a lot different than it was before.

  • Geeze...I know life changes, i knew i wouldn't get as much sleep. But is there any harm in dreaming about having my DD and 8 hours of sleep.

It was just meant to be a fun post.....sounds like you need a nap.

Wow, Take a pill. I'm sure she knew she wouldn't sleep as much. Like really is that not common sense? She was just saying she wanted to sleep.

  • I'm so with you on not enough sleep!  And I think we all expect it in some way shape or from but nothing can prepare you as a FTM for what the new LO will bring!  They are worth it, but I would love a straight 8 hours of sleep!  Its been nearly a year (dang having to pee while pregnant every few hours!).

    No

    Did she mention surprise?

OP hang in there! They will sleep eventually, right? And when they are teenagers and we can't drag their lazy butts out of bed, we will look back on these days and laugh.

  • It does get better.  DD is four and although she doesn't sleep in she does go to bed at 7 every night and doesn't wake until 6:30.  She never really wakes in the night.  I would say it got MUCH better around 9 months or a year with her.

Plus as that get older it gets easier to switch off and get time to sleep in.  When DD was around two we each got a weekend morning.  She would wake and one of us would take her out for breakfast and to the park and the other would sleep in!!!

  • I definitely feel this way sometimes. And then I look at pictures of DD as a tiny newborn and it feels like time has just flown by so fast and she's getting so big... and instead I feel like I'm fine with very little sleep and when the day comes that DD is actually reliably sleeping through the night, I think I will honestly cry a little.

LOL good response. I dream about the days when I could sleep whenever I wanted as well. A 3 year old and a 6 month old sure keep you hopping.

P.S. I thought your post was funny :)

  • Totally hear you!  My son has become a much better sleeper lately but still I miss sleep.  He went on a nap strike this weekend and it was brutal.  But I can't really complain because he is STTN.

My birthday is this week and all I asked for is six hours of the house to myself.  Two hours to nap, two to clean/do crafts and two to read.  Six blissful, uninterrupted hours of me time.

  • I completely understand what you mean.. We had a rough few days where LO was taking horrible naps and up all night. It's so hard when both you and baby are overtired. We recently started our day earlier and wow it makes a huge difference! He takes 2-3 solid naps a day and is sleeping by 8:20pm. Hang in there.. every sleepless night I try to remember I'm going to miss these times with LO. The rocking, snuggling, and nursing.

I Love that arrangement!! Will have to make a mental note of it for when the time comes :)

  • Right there with you vickcat!  Apparently Wifezzilla is too serious for your post.  Obviously the vast majority of people know that they will get less sleep with infants and young toddlers!  I know I miss sleep and look forward to the days my kids sleep through the night consistently so that I can too!  :)
