Started spotting yesterday and was concerned because of the amount so I went in to L&D like they told me to do the last time. First time it happened they thought it was sex but due to an overload of pregnancy *** hormones we know that wasn't the case this time. They tested me for a yeast infections which came back positive but I'm a little nervous about accepting this as the cause.
Anyone else go through something similar?
Re: Yeast infections and bleeding....
At 16 1/2 weeks, I spotted again and I knew this time it wasn't coming from the outside. When they tested me that time, they said it was irritation from straining to go to the bathroom. I was tested a week later for the YI to see if it was gone, and it was still there plus I had BV. I really think that's what caused the spotting at 16 1/2 weeks, too.
Um.... so just to further clarify....
I er..... like to go camando (with pants only) .... that is.... bad?
And, when you said stopped shaving....why is shaving bad?
And, as far as soap..... cleaning up with soap is... what? Ok, or not? I rinse really well but I do, um, scrub down there...
I had an OB appt at 17 1/2 weeks and mentioned that I thought the yeast was still there. He then tested me for yeast and ran the bacterial cultures. I think he may have noticed a slight odor or something, because he said later they don't usually run that test unless you're having symptoms. I have a sneaking suspicion that if they would have done it in the ER at the 16 1/2 week spotting scare, they would have found that I had it. But they only tested my urine for infection. I have no symptoms of BV and there are still traces of it there, but it usually clears up with antibiotics. I've tried several different things to get rid of it. I haven't had any more bleeding, though. You very well may NOT have an infection, it could just be that your cervix is very sensitive! That was just my experience and what I think the bleeding was from. I spotted in first tri and they chalked it up to a sensitive cervix because I was on progesterone.
My OB said the vagina is self cleaning, and not to scrub it with soap. I was scrubbing it a lot before he told me that. He says it's best not to shave so I just keep it trimmed down there. I don't remember what the reasons were, I think just from what he's seen in his line of work that more people have problems that shave. I wear underwear during the day, but after I get home and shower, I don't put any on with my pj pants, and I don't sleep in underwear. I was wearing pantyliners for a while and I think they were making things worse.
Tehehe....
Yeah, I was doing the V thing. I'll try to trim. I let it wild once (there was this evil ingrown hair thing) but it was driving me nuts so I went back to shaving.
I really need to get some more preggo panties. I mostly have those damn thongs which have started to annoy the crap out of me. That's mainly why I've been doing the commando thing.
*sigh* I really hate hairy lady bits
Ok, so scrubbing is out but how should you clean it? Any soap? Just water? I mean babies get wiped down during every diaper change and I've heard they sometimes but some harsh things in those...
I might not reply back tonight... DH is home and for whatever reason I find this topic easy to discuss w/ strangers and embarrassing as all heck to discuss w/ him
