Babies: 6 - 9 Months

EBFers: Is your child STTN?

I am thinking about cutting out my LO's overnight feedings. He is now 7.5 months and everything I read says he should be sttn. Of course, in the back of my mind, I just want to make sure he is getting enough calories in. So for those that EBF:    1. How old is your child?     2. How much solids does your LO take per day (oz and number of meals)?    3. Is your LO sttn?     4. What time is your LO's last feeding?    5. What time is your LO's first feeding?

Re: EBFers: Is your child STTN?

  • 1. My DS will be 8 months old on the 24th.

    2. I give him solids for lunch and dinner. He usually eats about 3-4 ounces per meal.

    3. He doesn't sleep through the night.

    4. The last feeding varies. DS fights sleep pretty much every night. He usually wakes up about 3 hours after he finally goes to sleep though.

    5. His first feeding for the day is usually around 6 am, but he usually wakes up at about 3 am and nurses for 5 minutes, and he falls asleep immediately after.

I'm sorry I am not much help! It is so hard to hear about babies that STTN when I still am up every 3-4 hours. I am interested to hear what other people have to say!

  • 1. DD is almost 7 months old

    2. 3 meals a day 3-4oz per meal plus snacks (puffs and teething biscuits)

    3. No, she has a few times, so I know she is able to little booger!

    4. Around 6-6:30pm

    5. Around 8-8:30 but she gets up once to twice at night to nurse, only does for like 5 minutes, so I know it is out of comfort not hunger. We will be sleep training soon!

  • 1. 8 months next week. 2. Two meals 2-3 oz each of solids. 3. She sttn by definition-6+ hrs of solid sleep. 4. She nurses to sleep around 7:30 or 8. She gets up between 3:30 and 4:30 to eat, then up for the day at 7:15 and nurses or takes a bottle soon after.

        2. How much solids does your LO take per day (oz and number of meals)? 3 meals, size of meals varies and she eats quite a bit of finger food so it's hard to quantify.  At least 3-4 oz per meal.
        3. Is your LO sttn?  not usually.  maybe 1-2 nights a week she'll go until 6 am.  most nights she's up once somewhere between 1 am and 5 am for a feeding.
        4. What time is your LO's last feeding? 6-7 pm
        5. What time is your LO's first feeding? 7-8 am *not including the middle of the night feeding

  • 1. 8.5 months

    2. Varies - we don't feed by oz, so I wouldn't know how to answer that either.

    3. I consider her to be STTN, but others probably wouldn't. We bedshare, and she sleeps from ~8:30-6:30 (when we have to wake her up).

    4. She nurses at 5:30 and 8:00, sometimes one more in between. She's latched off and on throughout the night, but these days I really can't tell if she's eating or not. I think she typically eats around 2:00 AM.

    5. She usually eats between 5:00-6:00 AM.

  • My answers will probably not be that helpful.

    1. 8 months

    2. We just started adding a third meal today at lunch time. He wasn't terribly interested and I don't think he ate anything. We are following BLW so I can't quantify what he eats in ounces. This morning he had a handful of blueberries, a whole grain waffle, and 1/4 cup of yogurt. At lunch I offered steamed parsnips, shredded chicken, and fresh mozzarella cheese. Since he didn't really eat any of it, he's getting that again for dinner right now.

    3. No. Before last week he was waking up once, anytime between 1-3 for a feeding, but otherwise slept 7:30-7. The past 5 days he's been waking at 5:30, eating, and going back down until 7:30

    4. Last feeding is right before bed, around 7:15.

    5. First feeding is whenever he wakes up. Even recently when he's been waking at 5:30 to eat, I've still been feeding him again at 7:30, otherwise our whole routine is off.

        5. First feeding ~6:30 when she wakes up

    1. DS will be 8 mo. on the 20th.
    2. We're at 2 meals a day. Breakfast consists of 3-4 Tbsp Oatmeal, 4 oz of fruit, a few puffs/melts. Dinner is 6-7 oz. of veggies to which I add a little bit of rice cereal just to thicken it up, puffs/melts.
    3. Bedtime is at 7pm. DS wakes up every night between 10-11pm for a feeding and then sleeps until 7-7:30am. Technically, I guess that's STTN, but I won't necessarily consider it that until we eliminate that last feeding.
    4. I BF right before he goes to bed, and then the 10-11pm feeding.
    5. DS is ready to eat within 10-15 minutes of waking up.

  • 1)  My son turned 7 1/2 months today.

    2) He eats about 5 ounces of solids of fruit and/or yogurt in the a.m. and 5 ounces of veggies in the evening.

    3) He does sttn mostly, sometimes wakes up at 2:30 am after being asleep for eight hours for a quick feeding, but he doesn't really need it. He's just a little underweight so I give him extra whenever he wants it.

    4) His last feeding is at 6pm.

    5) His first feeding is at 7:30-8:30am, depending on when he wakes up in the morning.

  • 1. 6 months.

     2. about 2.5 oz. twice a day.

    3. She goes in spurts. But, generally, yes.

     4. About 9:30pm, then she goes to bed for the night.

    5. Around 6:30-7:30 and then back down until 9-10.

The past few days, though, we have been up every 2 1/2 hours and she has wanted to eat each time, so... I think she is in the middle of a growth spurt and teething, so everything is up in the air right now...

  • 1. How old is your child?  *almost* 6 months-sorry 3-6 board has been boring lately!

        2. How much solids does your LO take per day (oz and number of meals)? No solids yet

        3. Is your LO sttn? For the most part, typically 8 or so hours

        4. What time is your LO's last feeding? BF at 6:30 pm

        5. What time is your LO's first feeding? BF at 7:00 am

She started sleeping 7+ hour stretches as soon as I moved her bedtime up.  E went from going to bed at 9ish and waking up 3 or 4 times until she was up for the day at 7.  I moved her bedtime to a firm 7 (as early as 6:30 if she was sleepy) and instantly she was only waking up one time around 4am.

She doesn't eat solids yet, she BF at 7, 4oz BM bottles at daycare around 10:30, 1:30 and 4:30 and BF around 6:30.  She nurses once during the night, usually around 4, she has been known to sleep later.
