PCSing to Savannah, GA

Hi!

Just wondering if anyone else on here lives in Savannah. My husband and I are moving there in a little over a month. I'll be needing to find an OB right when we get there and I wanted to see if anyone knows a good one or just in general how tricare prime works there. I didn't know if there is MTF in the area, so maybe they would let you use Memorial Health. I'll be calling Tricare soon to figure some of this out, just wanted to check here first :)

    Stewart or Hunter?

We're at Stewart. There is a hospital on base (Winn).

I'm on Tricare Standard and I see Dr. Linfoot (Provident Medical Group, they deliver at Memorial) in Savannah.

I delivered with her, too!  Not there any longer, but she was great.  Liked her staff, too.  They were always nice if I brought my then 2 year old to appts.  We were at Stewart on Standard.

DH is stationed at Hunter and we live in Pooler. Tuttle doesn't have OB services, you end up delivering at Winn so my understanding is that they refer out if you live outside a certain mile radius. I see Dr. Linfoot at Provident OBGYN also.

I'm at Stewart as well. We just bought a house in Ludowici and love it so far. It's a lot quieter than we're used to, but it's a perfect place to raise kids in my eyes, so we're crossing our fingers for a BFP while we're here.

We live in Richmond Hill, and I am currently seen at Winn. Winn is not bad, depends on your team. I would try to get into a dr. in Savannah though, at Memorial or St. Joseph's Candler

H is stationed at Hunter.  I used the Midwife group for my babies and delivered at Candler.  I prefer their Telfair Women's Hospital over Memorial.  If you live outside a certain radius, they will automatically refer you out since Tuttle doesn't have OB services.  If you live closer to Stewart, they will send you out there to Winn for your OB appointments and delivery.  You can still get a referal, but it's more of a hassle.

We were extremely unhappy with the pediatric services at Tuttle and switched to Standard because my son has to see specialist due to a skin condition.  It has been far easier since then.

If you have any questions about Hunter, I'm glad to answer.  J has been stationed there for 8 years and I grew up here in Savannah.

We left Hunter about a year ago. I spent some time at Memorial in Savannah due to some health issues, and I really liked everyone there. I'm pregnant with my first now, so I don't have any personal experience with the Memorial OB. However I had several friends who delivered there and have nothing but positive things to say. It really is a friendly, clean, professional hospital.

They've had some pretty incredible MRSA and RSV issues as of late.

Thank you for that info! We will be at Hunter and living closeby in Savannah, so it would be great not to have to drive to Ft. Stewart for appointments. I will have to check out The Telfair Women's Hospital and see if they will send me there. Hunter/Savannah seems like a nice area- looking forward to the move!
