The sleeveless thing is probably throwing you off.
I have a sleeveless dress in red for DDs Christmas dress this year, but I also have a plain white long sleeved shirt to go underneath it. White tights and black patent Mary Janes.
ETA: looking at it again, it's way too 'fluffy' for me. I could see all of those tulle swirls getting snagged on things and looking pretty ratty.

I think I'm hung up on the color. It looks a little pink. I think it'd be great if it was a darker red.
Yes, almost like it's a Valentine dress or something? (Not that there really is such a thing.)
Almost every year we've gotten sleeveless Christmas dresses even though we live in a super cold climate. There just isn't much of a selection for short or long-sleeved dresses. I would have her wear probably a black cardigan with it. It is totally her and I know she'd love it, but it wasn't really hitting the mark for me.

I bought it. But I am thinking it's going to be pink, not red. Or hoping, at least. I think it would work for Christmas though. Add ivory tights, ivory cardi, and black mary janes.
ETA: It looks pinkish here. And lolz at the Gap stylist accessory choices, as usual.
That's the type of dress my DD loved when she was younger. We always went with a sleeveless and a cardigan even though it's cold here too. With the whole family in the house and even at our packed church, she used to get so hot. I think the cardigan stayed on for a half hour tops every year.
I am Turkey Lurkey...
b/c it sounded better than Cocky-Locky.
I have a Russian Red dress from Gap from a previous year and it's a pretty true red, not pinkish at all. I think that dress could be cute, but I wouldn't buy a dry clean only dress for my kids.

Too funny, I was thinking it looked like a Valentine dress too! I like the dress though. But reminds me of Valentine's day and not Christmas.
Yeah, I know russian red is their term for a true red, but I'm hoping they made a mistake and it's actually the wild hibiscus color that a matching headband up in kid girl is. They make mistakes all the time.
The dry clean only factor doesn't bother me too much as she will probably only wear it a couple times.
How many times do your DDs wear their Christmas dresses? Aside from the holiday events, I think we have sidelined their Christmas dresses after the festivities are over. They don't really go to any events where a more formal dress would be appropriate. Church, of course, but their usual church dresses are a little more casual than this.

Oh, and can I add how pissed I am that this dress, which I wanted to get for DD#2, was sold out of her size by the time I went to try to place the order?

I just wouldn't get it because of the cost. If it were ridiculously on sale, like $12, I'd get it and not care about cleaning it or having it tear. it would probably be something she wore once and then went into the dress up box. It's really cute.
Re: WDYT of this for a Christmas dress?

Grrr.
I think it'd be cute for a Christmas dress.
I considered it, but I think I'm going to check out Strasburg instead and get a short sleeved or long sleeved dress.
it's not exactly the same, but what about this one?

LOVE! Thank you!
I bought that dress for my DD. We are going to use it for Christmas photos.
