Gimme "take to a party" food ideas.

Friend's clambake is tomorrow night. His sister just posted her 16 qts of seafood chowder on Facebook, reminding me that I need to get my shiit together and make something to bring.

There are usually between 75-100 people.

Bad mom. Kids out late. Junky food. People drinking. Fire that they could fall into. Fields to get lost in. Hayrides to fall off of. Stick out tongue

Now what to cook?

  • If it were me, I would bake a crap-load of banana / applesauce / zuchini bread.  It's bread without being so blah like dinner rolls.  You can bake several loaves at a time, and it looks really nice when sliced and spread out on a platter.

  • Make caramel or candied apples for the kids.

Whatever. It's BYOB and bring a dish of any description to share. There's a little of everything. DH is going to be working all weekend, so the easier, the better. I have to get that done and get the kids in the mandatory Halloween costumes before we leave. LOL

  • salted caramel anything...I know how much you love it! ;p

seriously, though...in that case I'd probably bake a double batch of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies or something.  Or I like the banana bread idea.

  • Maybe a crockpot of something? Meatballs? Or a dip w/chips.

Otherwise, you could do some pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I really like Martha Stewart's recipe.

Or you could just buy a large bag of apples and some caramel dip and arrange them on a tray.

  • I just looked in my freezer. I have a shiitload of frozen bananas. I might make a double batch of banana bread and freeze some for home and take 2-3 loaves to the party.

I also thought of that buffalo crack dip. Is that fairly easy to transport? And what would you dip into it?

I bring this everywhere. I usually transport it in a Corningware dish and serve it with Scoops. I have another "crack" dip type recipe. It's easier (but even unhealthier) than the buffalo chicken wing dip. It would not be Nest-approved, but it's ridiculously popular with our friends and family. It's a pepperoni dip - just let me know if you want the recipe.

I always make my buffalo chicken dip in a small crockpot, I always serve it with tortilla chips and celery sticks.

  • Bring the crack dip in a crockpot.  I serve it with tortilla chips, regular chips or pita chips.  It is so damn good!
