so I was a DD to start, and it seems like my boobs are starting to pop. my bras are becoming uncomfortable and I think I need to go up a size.
here's the thing, I only wear high-quality minimizers. they fit better, look better and just make me feel better about myself. but i don't want to go out and spend $50-100 a bra if I'm only going to get even bigger. (the idea just makes me want to cry - I'm big enough!) so do I buy a bunch of cheap bras for now - do they even make cheap F bras??? what are my options?
Re: question for the ladies with large chests
Pregnancy Week by Week stuff.
I saw some DDD in Target the other day- sure, they aren't the cutest bras around, but they'll do in a pinch....
The best place I have found for buying larger sized bras is online - eBay is one good source. I've started to look because I'm already a D cup and probably have already grown to a DD. I wouldn't be surprised if I got up to an F cup, especially getting to the end of my third trimester, but I'm not buying anything that big until I get to an E at least.
You can get some nice sports bra type bras from Motherhood too. I got this one: https://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=993890361&MasterCategory_Id=MC29 and it fits nicely (and is comfy!) with some room to grow, plus I can use it for nursing when the time comes. Walmart has a similar one that I LOVE that actually has a regular bra clasp at the back, and it runs about $12. So, it doesn't have to be expensive to get decent bras!
Hi, I'm a DD (at the moment) too. I'm really not looking forward to the boob explosion, but I can feel it starting.
Mine are so heavy and sore already, I can't imagine getting either a cheap bra or a minimizer (ouch!). My current plan is to buy ONE of the cheaper "good" brands when I need to go up: Panache, Wacoal and Elomi make ones that are in the high $40s, and if you try on in a store but then buy online at someplace like Bare Necessities you can usually get free shipping and a 10% discount or so if you dig around. Playtex is also supposed to be good for the bigger band sizes. Then my plan is to wait and see if/when I need to go up again.
I completely agree with you about online, but wanted to mention that I've had bad luck with getting bras on Ebay. Sometimes the "NWT" bras have in fact been lying around for awhile. I got one where the elastic was creaky and brittle, and another that frankly seemed like it had been worn and the tags reattached: the cups bowed out in the middle like some bras get after they've been worn for awhile. Since any attempt at a return is a fight on Ebay, I just don't use them for this anymore even though the prices can be amazing.
With my first I started off at a 36DDD, went up to a 38G by week 14 and stayed there until DD was born. The first 5 months of BFing I was to a 38H. When I was finally done BFing and everything settled I am currently a 36G.
I kinda just struggled through the first few months then broke down and bought the 38G bra. I only got one so by the time DD was born, it was worn out. I lived in nursing tanks without a bra for 3 months and got the 38H. I was able to wear that for a good 7 months too before it wore out and I needed a new one. By that time I was down to the 36G where I am now.
I dont know how often you buy bras but I buy them every 6 months. So it worked out that I bought them every 6 months to a year while pregnant/nursing.
This time around I have not felt my boobs grow much at all. But there is still time.
With my first, I was a 32G before I was pregnant. I was a 32GG at 10 weeks and then a 34H when I delivered. I jumped up to a 34HH when my milk came in and when my ribcage shrunk at about 4-6 months post partum, i went back down to a 32H sorta... I'm currently at a 32GG, still nursing my 18 month old and 5 weeks pregnant with #2. It's really up to you on how much you want to spend. I bought ONE bra because I couldn't find anything with a small enough band and large enough cup. I am a fan of Nordstrom's lingerie dept because they are so very knowledgeable and have nice bras in MANY MANY sizes. But, they aren't cheap. But, I can't buy cheap bras because I really, really, really need the support. So, I bought one at 10 weeks and the other at like 24 weeksish? That lasted til delivery and then I bought two when my milk came in. BTW, they don't make good fitting nursing bras in my size, so I bought regular ones and had the straps altered with a dress clip put in. I was able to make do with one bra; it wasn't fun or easy, but the support and good sizing is more important to me.
Oh yea...I'm normally a 38DD and I am NOT looking forward to the girls getting bigger. I was a 38G before I lost weight...so GREAT now I'm gonna be headed back in that direction. My regular bras havent started bothering me yet, I get them from Lane Bryant. I'm gonna try to wear my regular style for as long as I can. I did have to start sleeping in a sports bra though...which sucks! But...oh well.
So I dunno...look at the Lany Bryant website, they have larger sizes and regular bras, t-shirt, wireless...They usually run around $36 but they always have buy 1 get one 1/2.
I wore a D before I got pregnant with DS. By the time I went into labor I was a FFF. When my milk supply came in I doubled that. It was awful.
After I was done breastfeeding, I went back down to a DD and have been until I got pregnant with this one. At 5 weeks I was back into my FFF nursing bras. I can't imagine what I will be by the time I deliver or when my milk comes in. I'm starting to bust out of these ones already. Luckily they are the bravado nursing bras so they stretch out quite about.
