Success after IF

How do you pronounce 'sublime'?

I was just watching TV, and a commercial came on for a haircolor.

The person doing the commercial said 'sub-leem' several times.

I'm sorry...have I been pronouncing this word incorrectly my whole life?

How do YOU pronounce the word sublime?

  • I saw that same commercial yesterday and was so confused why they were saying the word so weird.  I've never heard it pronounced sub-leem before.  It sounds ridiculous!

  • Did the person doing the voice over have an accent? French, for instance? If so, then "sub-leem" would be reasonable. For an average English speaker, um, no.
