Maybe I'm just overly sensitive, but I'm getting a bit anxious.
We sent in our initial application to the agency we are using, along with a check and our marriage license. I know they received them and they cashed the check last week. However, I have not heard from anyone.
We know the reputation of the agency and we have friends on their fundraising board, so I don't for one second think they just wanted our $500. However, I feel like someone should have contacted us by now to tell us how we are supposed to proceed - you know, telling us what paperwork is needed, etc.
Am I just overly anxious or should I call them to get this ball rolling? I really want to get the homestudy started and as close to finished as we can prior to the holidays.
Re: Question about timing after initial application
Honestly, this is par for the course. I would just call them, tell them you are anxious to get started, and ask what your next steps should be.
Unfortunately, in this process, you have to be very proactive about moving your case along. To you, it's your family; to the social workers, it's just a job. That's not to say they don't care, just that they are busy and sometimes other things need to get done first. By keeping an open line of communication and expressing your goals and expectations, you are setting the tone and pace for how your case will be handled.
