I jinxed myself re: HFM disease

There was the post about hand foot and mouth disease a week or so ago and I remember thinking, "Wow, Sydney's never gotten that and she's been in daycare since she was 8 weeks old. This is great!"

Guess who has it? Yep, my kid.

The pediatrician said its not bad in adults and is usually just a sore throat and headache. DH has had a sore throat for a week or so and then I thought maybe I had one immediately after the doctor's appointment but it was probably all in my head Embarrassed

But my Grumpy Smurf of a daughter is now staying home from daycare until at least Monday and DH and I are splitting our work shifts up so we can each be home with her part of tomorrow and Friday.

Sigh.

Oh no! Poor Sydney. DS had a strain back in the spring (only affected his throat) and the good news is, his cleared up really quickly and he was back to acting like himself very quickly, so hopefully Sydney will be the same.

Interesting what your pedi said, though - we were told that if we wound up w/ it, it would be a lot worse for us than it was for DS. Luckily, neither DH or I got sick, but I also went on a cleaning frenzy as soon as he was diagnosed w/ it. :P

I really hope it runs it's course fast. Hopefully Syd start's to feel better soon.

I actually never got around to telling you, but in July when everyone in A's old daycare had it (she never had it), but I got it in my mouth. OMG it was awful. I'm hoping both you and D don't get it.

Oh no, poor girl!! I hope she isn't too uncomfortable and that you and your DH don't catch it!

I was the one who posted about HFM a couple weeks ago. Somehow DS was the only one at his daycare who got it and DH and I didn't get it, thankfully. Our pedi told us DS could go back to daycare once his fever was gone for 24 hours.
