First post here - putting on my flame-retardent suit even though I hopefully won't need it.
If we have a girl, we'd like her name to start with the letter G. For several generations down my maternal line, the first daughter's name has started with G - totally accidental but I'd like to continue that purposefully. I've combed through the internet and baby books but can't find much that I really like. Is 'Grace' too common for a first name? Seems like everyone and their brother uses it as a middle... We're also thinking Gabrielle/a and Genevieve. Any thoughts on those or suggestions on others? My mom is already Georgia/Gigi so we won't use that.
Caveat: Name must sound good when prefaced by "Supreme Court Justice" or "Ambassador". So, classic and professional (though cute NNs are welcome).
Re: Girl Names starting in "G"
I really like Gabrielle and Genevieve. I heard a little girl the other day called Gemma, but I don't personally care for it.
I like:
Gretchen
Gretta
Gayle
Gina
Gwendolyn
Gwyneth
Guinevere
Gianna
Gail
Geralyn
Love your Caveat!!!
Guiliana
Gia
I like Gillian. Is Genevieve starting to get too popular though? Or is that all just on this board? I feel like I've seen it in a ton of posts but it's totally my favorite. I love the italian "Giulia" also but feel like she'd ALWAYS be correcting the spelling which I know is super-annoying. Am I right?
Also, to save the trouble of other suggestions - Gretchen is off-limits too though it's a GORGEOUS name
My friends, DH, and I call it the "Supreme Court" clause. Applies to both girl and boy names. Makes it easy for us to discard certain trendy names that may initially appeal to my pregnancy brain!
I like this tradition! It's visible but not obnoxious.
Love Genevieve and Gabrielle.
Grace IS pretty common, but I still think it's lovely.
Have you considered Greer, Greta, Giuliana, Geneva, Genova, or Gloria?
Giovanna
Galena
Georgia/Georgina
Glenna

Others:
Gracelyn
Ginger
Giselle
Giuliana
Gwen
Gloria
Gwyneth
I think Grace is too common now. I adore the name Genevieve. I love both Gwendolyn and Gwyneth nn Gwen...my favorite G names. Other G names I like:
Gemma
Geneva
Gia
Giordana
Gloria
Gretchen
I love Genevieve, and like Gabrielle. I also happen to really like Guinevere, although I'll admit it's a little out there for most people's tastes. Grace is lovely but a little boring to me.
Love the Supreme Court Justice clause.
I think Grace is over-used as a middle name, but not as a first name. I think it's a superb choice.
I also like Ginger and Gretchen.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
Giana
Greer
Gloria
and my newest favorite
Gertrude nn Trudy or Gertie

I'm sooooo over Grace, for first and middle names
I like Gemma and Gabrielle/Gabriella (I think I like Gabriella a little more, it's more feminine)
Genevieve is pretty but I always felt it was a complicated name for little girls
