Trouble TTC

BFN at 13 dpiui-should I still go in for a blood test tomorrow?

My RE told me to go for a blood test if I haven't had AF by CD 14, which is tomorrow.  I feel kind of ridiculous going in for a blood test when I'm pretty sure that this cycle is a bust.  Plus the lab where I'll have to go for the blood test is totally out of the way.

I know that some people don't get a + until after their missed period on HPT, so it can still be early.  But really, I don't feel like that's the case.

Can they learn any info from the b/w tomorrow, or is it just a waste of time and money if I'm not pg anyway?  Ugh.

Thanks, ladies!

  • Since AF has not shown yet, I would go. Blood tests are more sensitive. It's worth a shot.

  • You probably should go....but I never did. In seven cycles I made it to my beta five times without af and still have never once gone for one. However....my coworker had a bfn at 14 dpiui and a positive beta at 15dpiui.

  • There are a lot of HPT that don't go below a 20ui. This means if you are pregnant and implanted late that you might not be at the 20 mark yet thereby not getting a +hpt.

Do I recommend you go? It's totally up to you. I've been in your shoes. It's pretty annoying to have to spend $75 to get a blood test just to be neg. However, you might be still and they will get you your hcg and progesterone numbers either way.

  • I never go after a BFN at 13dpiui. I am OOP so I would prefer to save the money. If a HPT eventually became positive or AF never showed, then I would schedule the blood test. But that's me :)

    Good luck either way!

  • Hmmmmm....if I go tomorrow, it would be in the afternoon, and I wouldn't get the results until Friday anyway.  So maybe I'll wait, and if no AF by Friday morning, I'll go before work that morning at 15 dpiui.  I know that Clomid could make my LP long though--in the past, pre-lap, it was anywhere from 9-15 days.

  • I would go.

I started bleeding on day 13 but since it wasnt full flow they like to test anyway.  It ended up being positive.

    Good luck!

  • I would do it. I'm currently 14DPO and still no AF but BFN after BFN. I'm going to get a blood test anyway before I start Provera and move onto a new cycle. I think otherwise I'd be too worried and second guessing myself otherwise.
