Re: Toddler Beds

  • DS just turned 2 last week and I don't plan on moving him out of his crib for a while. We moved DD at 2.5 only because we needed the crib for DS.
  • My DD2 just turned 2 and is still in a crib. I'm pg with our third, but we have two convertible cribs so I may or may not switch her before the baby comes in December. We switched DD1 to a toddler bed just after 2 and she was in it til almost 4.

  • We didn't do toddler beds.

DS was in his crib until 3.5 and went straight to a twin.

DD is 2 3/4 and still in a crib. I plan to keep her in a crib until at least 3 and then go to a twin with bed rails.

  • I based it on when they started climbing out of the crib, so 18 months to 2 yrs depending on the kid.

  • DS went from a crib to a full bed at 2.  DD went from crib to toddler bed at 2 and was too "squished" in the toddler bed by 3, so we moved her into a twin.

  • why didnt you use toddler beds if u dont mind me asking? i have only had step daughter in one for about 2 months now..
  • I moved DS to a full (with rails) at age 2. We needed his crib since I was pg.

I moved DD to a full (with rails) just before she hit 3 (I think).

I didn't do a toddler bed since I didn't want to spend the money on something I would only use for a short time. Seemed like a waste since I was planning on moving them to a regular bed later.

  • They are pointless extra furniture.

  • I personally skipped the toddler bed and find them a waste of money.  My girls moved at 18 months (DD#1)and 17 months  (DD#2) to twin beds right from the crib and did great.

  • No toddler beds here either.

DD went to a twin bed shortly before 2.

I plan on moving DS around then too, unless he starts climbing out before then, which won't surprise me at all.

  • We moved #1 into a twin bed on his 2nd birthday because we needed the crib. We just put a bed rail on the twin and he did great. We moved #2 to a twin a few months after his 2nd birthday, also because we needed the crib. #3 is 18 months and still in the crib. We have no plans to move him unless he starts climbing out or seems uncomfortable. We'll probably move him closer to 3.

  • I actually skipped the toddler bed and went right to Twin beds. I moved my oldest around 18mths because he was climbing out of the crib. Moved DD at 16mths because I needed the crib for DS#2. He lasted the longest in the crib and didn't move to a bed until he was 2.5. I was lucky and my kids didn't really have much difficulty transitioning, for instance, no getting out of bed a zillion times, thank god! LOL

And this. I mean, you are going to have to eventually move to a regular bed, so I also think, why incur the cost of the toddler bed if you don't have to.

  • I moved DD right before (days) her first birthday. I needed the crib for DS. She does well.

  • We had 2 convertible cribs.

DD's crib was converted at age 3 (toddler bed); then at 4.5 she moved to a Queen. She is a crazy sleeper & does better in a queen.

DS1 started climbing out of the crib at 2.5 and we moved him to the toddler bed/converted crib and DS2 got DS1's crib (I switched their mattresses though as DS2 was used to his).   Our goal once DS2 is ready is to move the boys to bunks, they might be a full/twin or twin/twin.  So we don't anticipate moving DS2 to a toddler bed.
