1st Trimester

always thirsty?

Is this normal? I am so thirsty all the time, and even though I'm drinking a ton of water I feel dehydrated (dry skin, foot cramps, dry mouth, headaches). Granted, I am peeing a TON, which I know is common. Do you think the constant peeing is dehydrating me, or do you think this is something I should be concerned about and bring up at my next Dr appt?

Just keep swimming.

Re: always thirsty?

  • I wouldn't be too worried. With both pregnancies in the very beginning I was extremely thirsty. Could never get enough liquids. It could be your body just telling you it needs more water.
  • I am always thirsty too.  Water will not quench my thirst - sometimes rootbeer or pepsi will but 30min later I am thirsty again.  I think it's normal - your body just needs those nutrients/liquids to grow your baby.  I would still bing it up with your Dr, you may be lacking another nutient or vitamin ??

  • I think it's totally normal. Between weeks 4 and 7 I was CRAZY THIRSTY all the time even though I was drinking 4 or 5 liters of water a day or more. It started to level out last week and I feel much better now. I think it's just the body requiring more hydration because it's working so hard to get the baby growing, etc. Hang in there and invest in a good water bottle.

  • I think it's completly normal.  From 4 to 8 weeks I craved water.....drank like 120oz a day.........I still drink water thru out the day but probably half that now.........who knows, just another crazy symptom of being pregnant.

  • I'm thirsty too, and I remember with DS being very thirsty as well.  I litterally did not leave my house without a bottle of water at all times.  I'm pretty sure it's normal.

FWIW - I'm actaully sitting at my desk right now drinking a carton of milk AND a bottle of water.  Big Smile
