1st Trimester

Weight Gain worries

My last pregnancy I gained 70lbs, granted I was younger and not as aware of the consiquences of eating whatever I want because your pregnant train of thought I had lol but this pregnancy Im wanting to do my best to stay within a healthy weight gain. I am worried however because so far this trimester I have gained 7lbs, I dont feel im over eating but I really feel it may be my choices in foods. What eating plans have y'all followed to help with a steady healthy weight gain?

Re: Weight Gain worries

  • I like your little cartoon!  I too gained 70 lbs during my pregnancy, I loved the sweets.  Nothing else sounded at all good though.  I vow to be more active and make better choices this time around too :)  I am already so hungry though!

    Good luck to you!

  • I keep a food journal this way I can track what I am eating and make sure I am getting all the nutrients I need.

  • Loading the player...
  • I am eating 200-300 calorie meals or "snacks" every 2 hours. So far, so good. I'm 6 weeks along and I haven't gained any weight.  Good luck!
  • Just keep eating healthy! Have you tried counting your calories? The second/third tri you are supposed to add in 300 extra calories to what you normally eat. Log your calories so you can keep track of your sugar, protein, fat, etc... To make sure you are being healthy. I use myfitnesspal.com to log everything I eat.
  • I gained 52 pounds during my last pregnancy and I'm also terrified of doing that again.  That being said, I was a human garburator.  I used pregnancy as an excuse to eat as much sugar as I wanted.  I was good for the first few weeks but when I hit second tri and started showing, I fell into mistake of thinking I could eat whatever I wanted.  I was fine with regular food, but helped myself to every candy bowl and cookie/square/muffin left over from daily meetings.  It certainly added up!

When it came to loosing the weight afterwards, the first 20 pounds fell off.  The next 10 pounds took me almost 6 months of Weight Watches to loose and the final 20 pounds took a year and a half and a Half Ironman to loose!
