I voted Lucas Ryan, I like prefer it to the "an" sound ending both the first and second name and I find James a little plain, but it is a good name.
I also think that it's not going to be as simple as just finding a first name that your DH likes more, you guys are going to have to find a comprimise to finding a name that you both like that holds the meaning that he wants.

Agreed. I don't think this is a decision you post online and tell him "the winner is...".
I'm in a similar situation. DH wants the baby to have his first name as a middle name. I don't like DH's name and have other plans. But it's super important to DH so I've been trying my best to like it.
I'm not saying you should cave if you're unhappy with Ryan. However, is there an alternative compromise? Can he be a "Ryan" on the birth certificate and go by his middle name of an equal choice? I'm not fond of "Juniors" by any means. But it sounds like with the adoptions this might run deeper than just a request...

Re: Boy Name Poll to hopefully avoid naming after DH
Maybe you need to talk frankly with him and find out why he's so adamant about naming the kid Ryan.
I think kids should be named for themselves, not someone else.
