Mirena and sex

So I got my mirena put in today... I was super nervous about it because of all the bad stories I've heard.  It did hurt (maybe because I had a C-section not a vaginal birth) and I have had some cramping today and a few sharp pains but I think it is okay. 

My question is when did you have sex after you had it put in and did it hurt the first time?  We haven't had sex since the delivery because my C-section incision got infected and I had to be opened back up but now it is almost healed.  Sorry if this is TMI but I'd love advice/experiences with this.

I was crampy too for a day or two. My dr said just to wait a day or 2 before having sex...but I bled for a few weeks.  Some people do for a month or more.  Now I have no period and occasional spotting. Well worth it!

I had mine placed a month ago and we haven't had sex yet

Partially because I have chronic pelvic pain that's been worse since the placement, partially because I'm really scared about those strings moving around! (Which I know is irrational.) ; )

Anyway, glad you asked.

ETA: Just in case it's helpful to know... I bled for about a week after placement, then it stopped completely.  I thought I was going to get a period the other day because I spotted once, but then nothing!  I was on BCP before this, though, so maybe my body is already used to lighter periods.

I had mine put in a week ago, and sex hasn't been an issue.  I spotted for 7 days, but I was finishing my period when it was inserted and 7 day spotting is normal for me.  DH hasn't mentioned that he could feel the strings or is uncomfortable at all.

I had one put in after my daughter was born.  (She is six now). I had it taken out last year.  I never had any trouble.  After a while, you almost forget about it.

I had a Mirena a few years ago and I don't remember having any pain with sex issues, however I bled a lot for about 3 months straight   I was about to give up and ask the dr to take it out but they said to hold off a little longer and I was glad I did because after that the side effects were very minimal.

I had Mirena put in when my babies were 6 mo. old. It has been about 10 mos. now. I was EBF'ing and had not had a pp period yet. It jumpstarted that and I bled lightly for about 4 mos. It then stopped completely but I have started having a light AF every mo. for a few days still:( We had sex right away and neither of us have noticed anything or felt the strings at all. I had a well-woman check-up a few months ago and my Dr. said it was still in place perfectly. I haven't noticed any side effects. It is working out well for me. I didn't even feel it being placed but have had 4 vaginal births. It is nice to know how reliable it is and I don't believe anything else would be preventing pregnancy as well.
