Nursing, preschool, 3 & 4 yr olds = crazy days

I guess I haven't got it all figured out yet but Mon, Wed, and Fri are so crazy!

Gavyn goes to school those days from 12:30 to 3:00. I have to leave the driveway no later than 12:00 b/c it takes 25 min to get there. We literally live out in the middle of nowhere.

Breakfast is at 8ish, then I have to fit in lunch and a couple nursing sessions before we leave (sometimes they get sandwiches in the truck on the way there).

I drop him off then head home b/c the town he goes in for school has absolutely nothing for me to do with the other two kids. So we get home around 1 and then leave at 2:30 to pick him up. It's enough time to play something quick with Aidan, and change and nurse the baby again...phew!

So it's almost 2 hours in the truck 3 times a week. It was raining today which sucked, sure can't wait until there is 6 feet of snow out.

Just venting but nursing a newborn gets so much tougher the more kids you have.

Edited: Talk about mommy brain...he goes M, W, F, and I originally put M, T, W.

  • Awww!  You have 3 boys too??  How fun!  But Crazy too!  DS1 is in preschool 4 days a week and I work 3 mornings a week so I have about 2 seconds to get all the boys ready after  getting home from work to go do a drop off.    I am also nursing but I really think that would be easier than having to fix a bottle lol.  Either way crazy stuff!  Congrats on your new addition!

  • Aww. He's only a month old. Just remember, they get SO much more efficient later on. I think by the time DD was 8 weeks old she could suck down a boob in about 5 minutes. LOL

  • This is what I fear come March! j/k

We have a similar schedule in that DD#1 goes to preschool about 25-30 minutes away (also 12:30 to 3pm), though it is only 2 days a week, not 3. I also work part-time two days a week outside of home and one of those days is her preschool days, so then I am taking both girls to daycare, then going to pick up DD#1 before lunch to take her to preschool, then back to work, then back to preschool to pick her up, back to work again and then to pick up DD#2 at the end of the day and finally home. I am dreading this winter when the weather and roads get tough.

Hang in there, I'm sure you are doing great but it probably feels like you are losing it!

  • That is a rough schedule, but the nursing part will definitely get easier with time.

Your boys are so cute!  Looks like Liam has a nice head of hair, just like your other two.  Reminds me of my youngest.  He had his first haircut at 2 months old.  :)

We got Aidan's hair cut at 2 months and I was devastated with how it came out. I've sworn I won't do it with Liam :)

  • Eek, this is going to be me soon!  I have 3 and 4 year old boys who go to school MWF and I will be nursing a newborn soon......I already think getting them both out the door those days is stressful and chaotic.  They are so BUSY all of the time, getting them to focus on eating, getting dressed, brushing teeth is like asking them to do brain surgery.  Thanks for the heads up :)
