Re: Girl names-which do you like?

  • My pregnant mother from 1986 called. She wants her name list back.
  • The only one I like is Allison.  The others are completely dated.

  • Alison I like, but none of your other names, just way too dated.
2 IVFs & 1 FET. Welcome home baby girl!
  • I like Allison (spelled like this). The rest seem really dated.

  • Haha! Really?? I did not think they were that dated...still showing up on the 2010 100 list....

I am trying to avoid a super popular name, which all the 'current' names seem to be :)

  • I like Alison.

  • I like Ashley best..

and i don't see how names can be dated.. if anything names like Sophia, Vera, and Claire should be the ones that are "dated"

  • Mary Shelley was the author of Frankenstein, which a lot of people are familiar with.  I would definitely NOT do you first choice for that reason.

  • I don't mind traditional names, but I think Mary Michelle flows better than Michelle Mary.  I like Allison too.  Have you thought about Ashlyn instead of Ashley?

I like Alison, and thought about it if I had a girl but DH said no. I don't think the others sound dated, I just happen to like Alison the best. I think of an old lady when I hear Evelyn, but that's a fav on here. It is all opinion, just go with what you like!

I was thinking the same thing!! It made me giggle but DEF wouldn't use it!!

OP I guess w/ your choices I'd go with Taylor Michelle. No offense, but I know so many people w/ these names that they bore me. Here are some close alternatives that IMO are more unique...

Michelle/Shelly: Marchelline, Marielle/Mariella, Chantelle, or what about just Chelle

     Ashley: Ashlyn or Ashton

Allison/Ali: Aliana, Alisa, Alicia, Alexa, Alexandra

  • You have gotten some a-hole responses... I much prefer your list to some of the made up names I see on the bump boards!

I Think Taylor, Ashley and Allison are all nice, normal names

They're dated in the sense that you can hear of a person named Michelle, for example, and guess fairly accurately when that person was born.  I think 80s and 90s with most all of the names on OP's list.
