Jogging at 18 weeks?

So, I have been having a ton of mama drama lately, and need to work on de-stressing! To say the least, my biological mother is clinically depressed and cannot be happy for anyone or anything. She just recently found out about my pregnancy and to say that she is not happy for us is the understatement of the century. Nonetheless, I am really concerned about losing the baby due to all the stress she causes, and running used to serve as a good release for me but I haven't ran in ...well, years... Would it be ok to start lightly jogging again after not doing anything like that for so long? I just started week 18, and I'm not sure if it's too late

  • Ask your doctor. But the general rule of thumb is if you didn't do it before you got pregnant you shouldn't start during. Maybe just walking or taking it nice and easy on a stationary bike. If it were me, I would go get a pedicure and a prenatal massage!

  • Sorry to hear that your mom isn't being supportive. That stinks! :( Like PP said, it's usually not advised to start a new exercise regimen during pregnancy, but that being said, I think you can go by how you feel, too. You can get great benefits from walking briskly, so I'd start there and see how you feel. You might be able to add in some run/walk. Listen to your body and take it easy. Good luck-hope things get better.
