What's up with swaddling?

I keep seeing posts on how people are having success with deswaddling, are there pros and cons? LO loves being swaddled when she sleeps but we don't do it when she naps. Just curious, any imput is good.

Once they can roll back to belly it's not safe to swaddle because they would be trapped without their arms.  My worry is that LO will learn to roll back to belly before we stop swaddling and then we'll have to stop cold turkey.

We are just quitting because she's rolling and DH was up the entire night the other night watching her monitor because he was scared she'd roll over onto her face and not be able to get back over because her arms were swaddled. 

Plus we swaddle in the miracle blanket. I have no info to back it up, but I'm starting to worry that her arm muscles won't develop being tied down like that for 10-12 hours a night!

Oh the arms! How silly I did not even think about that! We just do her body, so if we don't swaddle her arms you think it's ok?

I asked our pedi at the 4 mo. appt when we should stop swaddling. She said they swaddled their kid until he was 8 month and only stopped then b/c he would get mad when he couldn't roll back onto his back in the middle of the night. I'm not in such a hurry to stop swaddling now...but I am considering it b/c DD is sleeping horribly right now and I'm willing to try anything to make it better. We'll see!

Still swaddling here! My LO LOVES it right now.. I plan to try to continue to swaddle until next month when I have a 2 week vacation....unless LO decides to stop before that. I like reading all the posts about swaddling because I am scared to death to stop!
