We are going to a concert on a weeknight, gone for about 5 hours. I have a really awesome nanny that is willing to watch him, and she says to "pay us what we can afford." Boo. She's a friend of a friend, I've met her quite a few times, and I feel comfortable with her. I know she's nearing 30, so it's not like she's a poor college student.
Is $12/hour too cheap?
Re: What do you pay a babysitter?
Around here they get $10-$15 an hour. So $12 would be fine.
Sheesh, I earned $3 an hour when I started babysitting at 12 and I thought I was ROLLING in money, lol.

Okay, thanks!
Sonadora, I know what you mean! When I made $4.25 at my ACTUAL JOB in high school, I thought I was rolling. Of course, gas was only $.99 a gallon then, for all three formulas on Fridays.
This concernt is now costing us $250. It better be freaking good!

Our babysitter charges us $3 an hour if DS is sleeping. Yes, you heard me. $3
She's 12, and she lives across the street. She's awesome with him (she's got 2 half-brothers), and her parents are home when she's babysitting, in case she get's into a situation where she needs help.
We pay her more than that, but yea, 3 bucks.
ETA: She's infant cpr-certified, too. And took a babysitting course.
