Scared!

I saw my Ob today and my little girl is still head down, but she is large.

She is 7lbs7oz already with a head diameter of 9.2 cm.

I am so hoping she comes out soon! I am frightened to think that if she stays in there for 4 more wks she could be 9+ lbs!  I am really hoping for a vaginal, natural, pain med free birth, but she is making me question my decisions...

Anyone else with big babies? Or had natural deliveries with big babies?

Re: Scared!

  • I'm scared too!  Today at my growth u/s my baby girl is unexpectedly measuring a week ahead and in the 77% percentile with 3+ weeks to go (my guess is that she will linger past her due date and continue to grow). I was a tiny baby at 5.5 lbs and was of average build pre-pregnancy, but I apparently married into a family that nurtures 10-11 lb robust babies with big heads full of hair.  I'm hoping the u/s measurements are just estimates and that the baby''s weight gain tapers off in the next few weeks.

  • Just remember that those weight estimates can be way off. That said....one of my friends just delivered a 10 lbs baby naturally. Both mommy and baby came through it just fine.
After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011!

  • Yup, a little scared.  He was already 7 lbs at 35w3d, with a 9 cm head.  That day, my OB just kind of scoffed at that, but then 2 days ago (a week later) he told me that he doesn't think the baby will be small and I will have to trust him.  Just waiting it out and seeing how it goes.  I'm a larger girl so hopefully I have nice baby-bearing hips!

  • I delivered a 10 lb, 3 oz baby with no problems. I had a med free vaginal delivery, and didn't even tear! So having a big baby isn't always a bad thing. :)
