Trade in ?

So our car, that we paid off last year, is too small for twins.  We bought it thinking it would be perfect for A little one.  One little one, not two.  If you put our double stroller in the trunk, nothing else fits.  Anyway, with me no longer working full time, we can't afford a huge car payment.

Okay, my question is for those that traded in, what do they really look at when they decide trade in value?  My car is 6 years old but only has 50,000 miles on it.  It was dings and scratches on it but it is 6 years old.  However, it's been kept in good shape motorwise and has had all it's maintenance.  Will it get a good trade in value you think?  We will buy again from the dealership we bought  our Elantra from.  TIA and sorry so long..

Re: Trade in ?

  • You'll have to blue book it out - google "blue book car price" , and then put in your info. Now is a really sh!tty time to get any money for a car - the biz is pretty slow. You probably wont get what you want for it. Sucky economy.

  • Something to consider, is to try to sell it yourself (like on Craigslist), you're likely to get more money for it, but, you have to do all the leg work.

While a dealership is not likely to give you a good deal on your trade-in, my guess is that you'll be more likely to find a good deal on the car you are looking for.

    Good luck!
