I have an old school top loader. 

I run a cold wash, then a hot wash/cold rinse on the super wash cycle. sometimes I then do an extra cold rinse.

I was using rockin green, 2 - 3 tbls, but have started experimenting with other detergents b/c my diapers started to not smell clean.

the poop ones still faintly smell like poop.

I washed them all a million times, with various amounts of dropps, crunchy clean and/or crunchy clean pure oxygen and even did a wash with 1 tbls of dawn.

after all that - 9 of them smelled clean. one that had some poop stains still smelled a bit.

I've started to rinse my poopy diapers now right after changing LO. so I thought this would help.... I washed last night and all the diapers had been used that day. it was only about 8 diapers I think. they are tots bots easy fits. well guess what the poop ones still smell! I used 2 packets of the dropps free and clear.

should I use even more detergent? and what about days when I wash double that amount of diapers - so I don't have to wash every day, rather every other....

You might actually want to cut back on detergent, and I'd always include the rinse cycle at the end.

Did you try to rock a soak with Rockin Green? That works for me.

I thought maybe b/c they smelled right out of the wash that I needed more detergent not less. I haven't tried a soak in the rockin green b/c I was convinced the new formula was what wasn't working to get my diapers clean anymore. I will try it! thanks!!
