First off... technically they gave me a due date of May 1st... but I doubt their calculations so I'm sticking to the April board
Second... the appointment started off fine. Urine sample, weight, BP, breast exam, pap smear, etc. Then they brought my husband in for the transvaginal ultrasound. Well all I saw was a round blob and i didn't really see it moving. She said she thought it sawing moving but was not detecting a heartbeat. Then she measured and said it was measuring 8 weeks (instead of 9 weeks 1 day). She said she was concerned. So I of course I'm crying. She says she is going to see if they can find someone with higher tech equipment to do another ultrasound. It's now 4:15. They come back in a few minutes later and say what hospital can see me and say we have to be there by 4:40. It's now nearly 4:25. This hospital is nearly a thirty minute drive in after work traffic. So we're driving like crazy trying to avoid highway rush hour traffic. We get there five minutes late. Luckily they still saw us. It was specifically an OB GYN ultrasound department at the hospital.
So we wait a bit and then get called back. The tech congratulates us and I'm thinking "uh, did you read the paperwork why we're here? it says "fetal demise? check viability." She realized a few minutes later and apologizes. OK, so she did a regular on top ultrasound quickly (she didn't tell us anything about it really), then she did the transvaginal one. and immediately i see baby moving around, or i think i do, but she hasn't said anything yet. then she says... "that flickering light right there is the heatbeat, and baby is moving all over the place." THANK FREAKING GOD!
Heartrate was 182. Tech thought that was too high but when the doctor came in (not my doctor but one of the hospital OBs) said it was perfectly fine for the age. They did a bunch of measurements. The first few she said were 8 weeks and a few days... then the more she did she said 9 weeks.
OH, and also, they put the transvaginal device back in when the doc came in... so i've had that thing stuck up me three times today, in addition to the speculum and my doctors hands...
Anyway... they said they saw no sign for concern and everything looked on track. so happy! it looked like baby was floating around and waving as if it say "hey... i'm here... present.. sorry.. i was sleeping earlier! don't make any rash decisions! i'm here!"
Hoping all continues to go well. Bloodwork tomorrow.
