Anyone planning to ski or snowboard this winter? I was thinking early season I might be able to get a few days in... but maybe it is wishful thinking.
I am a snowboarder and I do tend to fall over a bit, but usually just because I'm trying to go faster etc. If i go slow and stick to the green slopes I could probably manage to not fall over at all.
Just wondering if anyone else is planning to? Haven't asked my MW yet what her thoughts are but I will at next appt.
Re: Snowboarding/Skiing
I asked my OB and he said absolutely NO. Anything that involves the potential to fall is off limits.
My board will have to stay tucked away this winter
aw, bummer.
I think if I were a skiier it would be easier, but with snowboarding there is also the balance thing... with a belly it would likely feel weird!
oh well I guess I can pick up a pair of snowshoes or do some cross country skiing... snoozefest, haha
I'm not, but the only reason I'm avoiding potentially "dangerous" things because I'm so wimpy and if I get hurt, I can't take any medicine!
Muscle strain = sorry, no muscle relaxers
Sprained ankle = deal with it, no pain killers
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!
yes that is true. The worst incidents I've had have involved other idiots on the slopes. I am very conscious of others and following the rules. But then you have all the crazy kids. Once I had a teenager crash right into me and even chipped my board!
plus where we ski (wildcat mountain) is known to be a bit.. unpredictable at times. It can get very icy and windy.
But those powder days... oh I feel sad thinking about it...
We live in NH as well
I am secretly hoping that this winter won't be as amazing as last winter...
I would love to, but DH has told me there is no way that I'm going. I love skiing so this makes me sad.
I would ask your Dr. or MW and see what they say. I've heard before that if you are good and don't fall then they will let you.. but you need to have years of experience kinda deal. Which isn't me.. I've only been 5 times yet and still fall at least a few times.

This exactly. There is no way I'll be skiing this year...also because I can only imagine how much worse my knee pain will be with the extra weight!

My Married Bio
I did some x-country skiing last year at Christmas and I fell down a whole lot more often than I ever do in the mountains on my snowboard! haha Guess even with x-country I need to stick to the green runs!
I am sad to say I have decided against any skiing/boarding this year. It will be a long winter, esp with my husband going without me! But I just dont feel quite comfortable with it.
Also I asked my dr if I could ride my quad and he said he would not let his wife/daughter ride a quad, but that its my choice. That pretty much made my decision for that and my boarding this season.
My OB said "no combat sports" when I asked about snowboarding/skiing. I live in Colorado, so this is especially brutal. Guess I'll be spending the winter in the lodge with hot cider and pumpkin pie while everyone else is on the slopes. Doesn't sound too bad, although I'll miss it this year:)
Note: she said snowshoeing was fine- am going to have to try that this year instead.
Everytime I pull into our garage, the first thing I see is my board. I am not going to take any chances. Looking forward to our future snowboarding baby. ;D
ITA! I pulled something in my back when I was PG with #1 by pullling a suitcase behind me (we traveled int'l, it may have been a little heavier than usual) ... recovery was hell. No good meds, just PT for 8 weeks. So not worth it.
