Cloth Diapering

How big a deal are rips in AIOs?

I knew all along that I wanted to CD, so during this pregnancy I've been stocking up on OS pockets.  The plan was to use disposables at first, until baby fits the OS and so that DH and I can focus on getting used to having a newborn without having to get used to CDing at the same time.  My mom has constantly been trying to convince us to use a diaper service, and I kept refusing.  But she finally convinced me to let her pay for a diaper service for the first few weeks, so that we get the benefits of cloth without having to do the laundry ourselves.  So the first batch of diapers arrived today and I just went through them.  We wanted the fitteds rather than prefolds, so we've got a ton of newborn sized AIOs, some extra liners for them, some covers and a bunch of cloth wipes.  The thing is that almost all of the diapers have rips in them.  Mostly along the seams on the outside.  Is this going to be a problem?  I just wasn't expecting this, having gotten used to my stash of mostly brand new diapers and a few seconds that are in really good shape. . .And if they aren't going to work well, I want to know ASAP so my mom can get her money back.

Thanks for reading/advising, and sorry this is so long.

Re: How big a deal are rips in AIOs?

  • Thanks for the feedback!  Honestly, I wasn't sure what they sent me.  They looked like pictures I've seen of AIOs, but they call them fitteds.  And it's a local company that makes their own diapers, so it's not like I could just look it up.  These must be fitteds, though, because they don't have the plasticy outside you described.
