High-Risk Pregnancy

Can any tell me how cervical length checks work?

Hi ladies this is my first high risk pregnancy due to delivering at 35 weeks an 22 weeks. They have me scheduled for a length check but can anyone tell me what to expect? What are the normal lengths?

Re: Can any tell me how cervical length checks work?

  • My doctor told me that a "normal" cervical length is between 3 and 5 cm.
  • I was told 2-5cm. Anything under 2 is a problem. It may depend on your practice as to what they feel comfortable with.  Every other week my checks were done via transvag u/s and in between it was done manual. Now that I'm 1 cm dilated they no longer do any kind of manual exam. I get a transvag u/s every 3 weeks.  HTH and good luck.
