Introduction...another GD mama.

Hi Ladies,

I was just diagnosed yesterday with GD - this is my first pregnancy and I don't meet with the educator until the 11th.

Can anyone help me out with a basic idea of what I should be eating (number of carbs, etc.). I think I was thinking too drastic...

I would really appreciate it and I look forward to getting to know you all!

    my dietitian's rules are

    breakfast = 20-35 g of carbs

    snack =  15-20 g

    lunch = 45-60 g

    snack = 15-20 g

    dinner = 45-60 g

    snack = 15-30 g

    everyone is different, but i've found that i cannot eat that many carbs for lunch... anything more than 30 g will put my numbers over, but i can eat much more than "allowed" for breakfast and be fine. Most people are the opposite.

    make sure that you're always pairing a protein with your carbs. and when it's possible eat whole grains. that should help with your numbers.

    My plan is slightly different than the PP:

    Breakfast: 30 g

    Morning snack: 30 g

    Lunch: 45 g

    Afternoon snack: 22-23 g

    Dinner: 45 g

    Bedtime snack: 22-23 g

    With each meal, I am supposed to have 15g worth of milk.

    With my afternoon and bedtime snack, I am supposed to have 7-8g worth of milk.

    Milk can be milk or yogurt (light/low-sugar)

    I was just diagnoised on thursday and haven't met with a nutritionist yet either so i don't have any advice, but just wanted to say welcome i am right there with ya and i have found this board very helpful so far. if you back pages you can find all kinds of snack/meal ideas to hold you over until you meet your nutritionist.
