We have our first cold here and I feel absolutely terrible for her. Know of any tips and tricks I can do to help her?
It's just a virus/cold. No fever (checking 3-4 times a day). Cough, sneezing and runny nose (all clear in color). We are giving her tylenol, baths, LOTS of cuddles and laying low and just relaxing. I have a humidifer with those vicks patches in her room at night. She's been sleeping lots, which is good and we've been keeping up on giving her fluids (bottle and if she doesn't want that, water). We've also been keeping up on the snot sucking too.
Any little tips you can send my way? I hate seeing her like this and wish I could take it for her.
Re: Sick LO
I don't think there's much more you can do

I think you've got it all covered. Viruses suck!
Feel better soon LO!
You're doing all you can. DS's 1st cold was by far the worst he's had to date. He couldn't stand having snot coming down his nose & would smear it with his hand every chance he got. He hated the booger sucker too. He was uber fussy, up all hours & went on a nursing strike (which lasted over a week & effectively ended BFing.)
You have my deepest empathy. A sick child is no fun. I hope this passes quickly for both of you!
When DS is sick, a steamy bathroom always helps him. Turn the shower all the way on hot and let the bathroom steam up. Sit in there for about 10 minutes. You can also pat her on her back to loosen up any chest congestion.
Just a word of warning - it loosens up the mucous very well. One time when DS was very congested, he actually threw up mucous about 10 minutes after. Scared me really bad but I looked it up and called the pedi's office and they said it was normal.
Saline drops/spray before you suction can help too. Other than that, it sounds like you are doing all you can. I hope she feels better soon.
