SHARP pains

Okay, so I work nights at a hotel (off in 30 mins!) and last night I one sharp pain, right in the middle of where my uterus should be. Then, as I was delivering reciepts and newspapers (involves bending over and sliding the reciept under the door) at the very last room, right as I was finishing, I got the sharp pain again, this time it took my breath away and I had to stop what I was doing until it passed (30 seconds, maybe?) Then, just as I'm sitting here, it happened again and made me gasp. I tried to really focus on the pain to see if I could describe it and it was almost pulsating.

I checked online a little earlier and it was saying it should be round ligament pain, but everything was saying that RLP is along your bikini line. This is not. This is about an inch and a half to two inches below my belly button right in the middle. About the spot my dr had the doppler for the heartbeat last week. I need to call my dr's office and reschedule an appt, should I talk to a nurse and ask? I haven't had a chance to go to the bathroom yet to see if I have any spotting.

Re: SHARP pains

  • Definitely talk to a nurse!

  • Since it happened more than once it never hurts to call and talk to the nurse.  Remember that is what they are there for!

  • This happens to me frequently, but my OB said last week that it can be RLP even if you're not feeling it where you're "supposed to", the pain sensation can travel.  But if you're not feeling right, you should def. talk to the nurse. Good Luck!!

  • Have you been drinking enough water?? This sort of thing happened to me a couple weeks ago, it was so horrible ~ then my friend who just had a baby told me to drink 2 glasses of water quickly and lay on my left side. I did that and it worked right away! I felt 100% better after that. She said it must have been because I wasn't drinking enough water. Now I'm really watching how much I drink and haven't had any of those pains come back!

  • I just got off the phone with a nurse and she said it sounds like Round Ligament Syndrome. She said that the pain can happen anywhere, and not the on the bikini line (which I kind of figured, but I wanted to be sure). She advised me to do some stretches if it happens again and to look out for anymore pain or spotting. She also said to do the stretching (get down on all fours and arch your back) before I go and deliver the reciepts and newspapers.

I did drink water (about three 8 oz cups) during the night, also about a 1/2 bottle of Vitamin Water and some root beer. =)

Sounds like nothing to worry about, but I'll call back if it keeps happening.

Now I'm going to bed. Yahoo!

    Thanks ladies!

I need to not lurk so much...
