Stinky Wet Diapers?

We just switched my SO's 2yo son from Pampers to Huggies. He's a stomach sleeper and the Pampers leaked almost every night.  The past few days I've noticed that his wet diapers smell very strong.

I'm concerned of a UTI, but his urine isn't dark or bloody. I've asked him if it hurts to go pee-pee, and he replies no, but I really don't know if he can grasp what I mean by it or not.  But now I'm kind of thinking that maybe Huggies just doesn't have as much odor eliminator ingredients in their diapers. Or maybe they just hold so much more urine that it ends up stinking.

Any one else experience this with super absorbent diapers?

Re: Stinky Wet Diapers?

  • Could it be what he's eating? I know asparagus makes your urine smell so maybe something else. What does it smell like? Is it just a strong urine smell? If so it could just be that he's getting older & eat & drinking different things.

As long as it doesn't have a foul odor or smell like maple syrup, I wouldn't worry about it,

  • When ds uses the Target Up&Up brand he reaks, Pampers he'll smell like maple syrup.....with the Pampers he's always smelled like that and nothing is wrong with him.
