Concerned about weight loss (LONG)

Here's the story:

The last 2 times I have went to the OB I've lost weight. The first appointment I lost a pound. OB wasn't too concerned. However, last time I went (last Friday) I had lost 3 additional pounds. I had a stomach bug the week before my appointment, so I thought that might be the problem. OB asked me if I was eating and acted very concerned. I told him about the stomach bug. I'm amazed that I lost weight, really. I eat like a horse.

I had an appointment with my cardiologist yesterday and I had lost another pound. I thought it might just be a difference in scales, so I came home and weighed myself. Sure enough, I had indeed lost another pound. My maternity pants (the sexy full panel ones) almost fell off of me today while grocery shopping and my belly is noticeably smaller.

My next OB appointment isn't until Halloween day because I had made no progress at last appointment and everything else (besides my weight) was perfect.

Would you just ride it out until next appointment or call the OB?

Re: Concerned about weight loss (LONG)

  • At my labor class, I was told that it is normal to lose a small amount of weight at the end of pregnancy.  But, if you notice that you are losing a substantial amount, I would call the doc and make an appointment for sooner.  You are getting so close!

  • It's normal to lose weight at the end of your pregnancy.  With Joshua, I was 155 the Friday before I delivered him and 150 the day before which was a Monday.
