Do you still have a chair or glider in LO bedroom?

I'm starting to prep for baby 2.  I'm wondering if I can use my glider in the new baby's room or if my DD will still need it by the time she's 2?  She'll be 25 months when the new baby arrives and I used her glider to nurse alot but I don't know if we'll still be doing story time in her room and if we'll need some sort of chair??

What do you have in LO's room for story time or sleep time routines?

Re: Do you still have a chair or glider in LO bedroom?

  • DD has an upholstered rocking chair in her room that I couldn't imagine moving out of there.  We use it to read books while she sits in my lap and also to cuddle and rock for a few minutes at bedtime.  She also likes to climb up in it herself to just hang out.  If I was expecting another LO right now, I would definitely get another chair for the new nursery and keep DD's chair for herself.

  • I sit in bed with DD.  Rocker was left in baby room.  Once in a while she will tell me she wants to rock and we go in there and she knows she has to be quite baby is sleeping and we rock for a few minutes.  Really she just says this when she wants to stay up later I think but I am okay with it.

  • Yeah, but just because I'm too lazy to haul it out LOL

We are slowly making DS's room a big boy room, but occasionally, he'll want his bedtime story in the glider.  I think part of me just doesnt want to get rid of the very last baby thing.

  • Yep, we still rock them in the glider for a few minutes at naptime and bedtime. At 2y8m they still love it.

  • Yes, we still have a rocking chair in DD's bedroom. We sit there to read stories together and I just generally like having a place to sit besides her bed if I am in there while she is playing.

DD's chair is the same rocking chair that was in my room growing up, so I figure she will have it in there for a while. If we ever have another child, I think we would buy a separate chair for his/her room, or the kids might share a room.

  • Yes, I still sit in it and read him his stories before bed or nap.  It is more for my comfort then his.  Besides I have no place else to put it.  Also, it is comfortable for grandparents to sit in when he wants them to play with him in his room.

  • I ended up buying a second glider.  DD was 22 mos when DS was born and even to this day we read books in the glider....esp right before nap.  She also likes to read to her dollies in it.

  • Yeah but we only have a 2 bedroom house and there's no where else to put it.  Baby #2 is on the way so we can't get rid of it yet....even though we desperately need the room.
  • Yes, but only because we have not had a reason to move it.  No younger siblings yet and space isn't an issue.

  • My boys are 2 and 1/2, but we still use it sometimes.  If they are sick at night or sometimes they are all riled up at nap so I rock them.

  • Yes.  We read her bedtime story in it every night.  I can't imagine moving it.
  • No, the glider is currently in our room b/c LO2 is still sleeping in there, but we will move it upstairs to his nursery with him. I lay in LO1's bed with him for story time.
