I was wondering if anyone has had the CVS test done or is considering doing it? I have heard so many different things about how risky it is, or how it's gotten much better, and the risks are much lower. I was wondering if anyone has had one done??
I was going to do one if my Ultrascreen (NT) results came back as high risk. The Dr my OB refers patients to for the CVS and Amnio quotes a 1:1000 m/c risk with the procedures. Some even quote 1:3000. I would not do it though unless I had less than stellar results with the first tri screen

Ditto. I am not planning on having an amnio or CVS unless there is some indication that it's necessary beyond my age.

I think this is what I am going to do to, although it has been recommended to have a CVS and amnio because of conceiving with IVF, but I don't really think I wan too.

I had one done for DS #1 and just recently for DS #2.Both were done due to the less invasive tests coming back with elevated risk.
It?s just a personal choice if you want to go this route or not, I don?t know anyone else who went this far with their testing but DH and I just wanted to be prepared financially.
I would still recommend starting with the least invasive testing and go from there.
I will only get a CVS done if the NT scan doesn't look good. (I will probably get the amnio even if I have a good scan/bloodwork results just because I'm a need-to-know kind of person.)
First birth: Natural (med-free) Second birth: Hell, no. Epidural all the way.
We don't have the option of an NT scan, but they do the CVS. I will only have the CVS done though, because it is just a blood test. I will probably not do the amnio though.

The CVS is more invasive than a blood test (it involves taking a sample from the placenta). Maybe you're thinking of the AFP?
