I'm having an "oh, crap!" moment!

DS was pinning his sister behind the bathroom door Friday night and, when DH went to pull them both out, DS bumped his eye on the knob.  It left a tiny scrape below his eye and a slightly bigger scrape above the eye.

Here's my concern: Every time someone asks what happened, he says, "Daddy pushed me into the door knob."  If you ask if it was an accident, he says it was on purpose!

I am 100% sure that it was an accident, but I'm worrying that he'll say something at school and his teacher will report it to CPS.  I wrote a note that just said he hurt it on Friday when DH was getting the kids out from behind the door and to please call me if it seems to be bothering him.  I know it WON'T bother him (because it's extremely minor), but I just wanted to acknowledge it and briefly explain what happened.

Please tell me I'm worrying about nothing.  It's stuck in my head, now, and I can't get it out.

  • I think you are worrying about nothing and I'm sure it will be fine. My DD has said all sorts of crazy sh!t.
  • As a teacher I would ask how he got it and then when he said "daddy pushed me into the door knob"  I would have asked him to explain the story....the truth will come out that it was an accident!  I wouldn't worry too much.

  • Did you explain to him that it was just an accident and ask him to stop saying it was on purpose?  I'm sure you did, but when ds does this we usually either reinforce that it was just an accident or we literally explain to him that if he says it was on purpose to other people that daddy might get in trouble since it was just an accident.  I'm sure you're worry about nothing though.  DD fell off the patio the first week of school and hit her forehead. 3 days later she had giant black and blue eyes and no one said anything to us...and they should have because she looked terrible!
