NPR Fashion Advice Needed

Hi Ladies,

I'm going to a wedding tomorrow.  The ceremony and reception were originally supposed to be outside, but now that it's going to rain, the reception will be inside and the ceremony will still be outside (standing, in the rain!).  I am wearing a black wrap dress that does a nice job hiding my belly, but what shoes?! If I wear pointy heels I'll sink.  Flats? Bedroom slippers? Combat boots? No, seriously though. Smile  FYI wedding invite said "Attire: No Need for Sunday's Best!"

I was thinking the same.  Something with a little embellishment.

Are you being serious?  Because I'd totally do it!  I've just never worn flip flops to a wedding and feel a little strange...

  • The only thing with the flats is that they'll be soaking wet after standing in the grass in the rain.  Wish I could just wear rain boots!

  • I would wear wedge heels.

This is a good idea too.

I know the flats would get wet but it irritates the hell out of me when I have flip flops on and I step into water. It grosses me out.

  • I'd bring a pair of nicer flip flops for outside, and switch to heels for the reception (assuming you can run to the car or something inbetween).  I hate getting my shoes wet and wouldnt want to ruin any of them intentionally.

Any chance they'll get a tent to sit under?  If so, that changes my vote =P.

You said sit, but it's a standing ceremony! Stick out tongue No chance for a tent.

I would totally wear rain boots (granted that it is puddly out) just to show how silly it is to have a wedding in the rain!  I would then put something nicer on for the reception.

  • Another vote for wedges!

If you wear flip flops, I'd bring something to change into for the reception.

  • I third the wedges idea.
