Appt today just OK

Had an OB appt today, I was really hoping we would have luck with the doppler, the doctor was great and tried for a long time we thought we may have heard it for a second but my pulse kept getting in the way. So we didn't hear it "for sure". This doesn't help my anxiety! I have been so much more anxious this pregnancy because my symptoms are so mild. The are not non-existent they are there but NOTHING like how sick I was with DS. He offered to send me down for an ultrasound but said he wasn't at all concerned. He said my uterus was just above my pelvic bone, consistent with 10 weeks and said the ultrasound in 2 weeks should relieve my anxiety.

I work all weekend, I'm an L&D nurse and could go ask one of the nurses or doctor's to scan me to see a heartbeat but DH doens't think I should (no one at work knows I'm pregnant).

So I think for now I will feel relief with each day of heartburn, constipation, headaches, sciatica, etc! LOL

  • 6weeks? I thought you were 10weeks? If he offered an u/s i would have taken him up on the offer to relieve my nerves.

Everything should be ok, I guess if your get too stressed about it you can come out early with your co-workers.

Ugh I'm SO tired today! Yes 10 weeks, he said its consistent with 10 weeks. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and saw that HB which is helpful. He doesn't have a machine in his office so I would have had to go to the hospital, which he said he would arrange but I just felt like that was a lot when he wasn't concerned at all. IF there is an expereinced trust worthy nurse and we aren't too busy I may come out to just her and ask her to quickly scan me...

  • I would have gone down for the ultrasound, as long as it was covered by insurance. I never turn down an ultrasound!

I'm glad your doctor didn't seem too worried. That's a good sign.

Definitely!  I'd been warned at my 10 week appt that they may not be able to find the HB, but that if they didn't, not to worry.  Since the OB wasn't worried, I'd focus on that.

  • I went in for my 10 week Appt and the dr couldn't find a heartbeat. She immediately sent us for an ultrasound. I was really upset! The ultrasound was great. Baby was there, heartbeat and all :) a couple of days later, the dr called and decided to move my due date so I guess I wasn't actually 10 weeks at the Appt (although I am confident in the dates I gave them). Overall, try not to stress! I bet the little baby is wiggling away in your belly.
